Comm Gear for Remote Pilot
A little update on the new CRAZEDpilot In-The-Ear Headset
As a commercial Remote Pilot I'm using the new in-ear-headset technology with a Yaesu FTA550 Handheld VHF Transceiver setup to monitor air traffic. This past weekend I used the two products to monitor light plane traffic on approach to my local airport six miles North of Half Moon Bay, CA and NOAA weather.
I flew my Inspire 1 on 3 autonomous and 2 manual flights knowing where I was in relationship to the airport just North of my position with a much better comfort zone. Manned pilots tend to vector to the airport along this Coastal community from many directions. What I've found is that I wasn't constantly looking up trying to locate light planes that I hear which have the tendency to fly below 400' AGL, but rather listen to the their approach over VHF.
I fly construction worksites that always seem to have small plane and helicopter traffic flying near, or below that 400' AGL ceiling we have as sUAS Remote Pilots. The added capability of wearing this unobtrusive headset underneath a hard hat while flying construction worksites is invaluable to me. -
"a great product for the $"
The microphone boom moves around a little too much. it's very slim and lightweight ..... Otherwise a great product for the $

Product is a nice concept. V.
lightweight, quite comfortable when worn. The triangular shape of the ear-pieces fit nicely in ear, holding them in position. Sound quality quite good, with separate volume controls.
